Inspired as much by international giants Duke Ellington, Caetano Veloso, and Paul Simon as by underrecognized eclecticists Kristin Mueller and Andrew Bird, Rob has developed a style uniquely his own. Telling stories about automated check-out clerks, penguins dancing amidst melting ice caps, and thirty foot tall seahorses made out of plaster, his music emphasizes jazz chords, country, spoken word, and Brazilian rhythms. Lacking basic driving skills and completely devoid of road sense, Rob's touring was once limited to public transit accessible venues in Chicago. In recent months, however, he has found his was as a stowaway hiding under a guitar in the vehicles of traveling acts such as Them Damn Kids.
