He began writing heavily harmonious songs, invoking the traditions that permeate the Midwest. He went to college in northern California, and there found a whole new wealth of influence, and by the time he graduated with an art degree, he had begun a sparse and mostly acoustic album, "Positive". With both narrative and personal lyrics, variations of rhythms, some meditative some shake-your-butt, Beau Kinstler strives for a straight-forward, honest sound.
