WFUV listeners in Stephen Clair's hometown of NYC voted his album LITTLE RADIO one of the Top 50 of 2003. It was the only independently released CD on that list, which included the likes of Patty Griffin, John Mayer, Lucinda Williams, and Gillian Welch.

Time Out NY calls Clair a troubadour for the No Depression set, while the Village Voice sums him up saying he's "laid-back - yet very New York, proving that's possible." That's not too far off. Impact Press says Clair's "gritty tunes have a big city feel despite their homey qualities."

LITTLE RADIO's surprise single, "Jen in Her Underwear" spent 14 weeks in rotation on WFUV and it continues to pop up on the dial on continents near and far. England's Alt-Country Tab calls LITTLE RADIO a "classy and dynamic set of songs that draw upon a range of sources, not least artists like Dan Bern, Paul Westerberg and Lou Reed. Read The Lyrics.

Clair plays constantly (even as he's been hammering out the next studio album through most of the winter). Last year, he shared the stage with Hamell On Trial, Chip Taylor, Yo La Tengo, ... even the Flaming Lips. As for this new record, well...Simon Austin (remember Frente?) is masterfully engineering; all the bass is being handled by Keith Christopher (these days he plays with The Yayhoos, Dan Baird and all that, yeah, but we're most impressed by his tenure with Billy Joe Shaver,.. and ... oh wait...Drew Glackin (of The Silos) just stopped by and put down some sweet lap steel parts..
