Kriss Luckett has been active in music for 20+ years in Indiana, performing as a vocalist in a wide variety of projects. She has proven herself to be a prolific songwriter and a talented vocalist, both of which give her a deeply expressive and unique style. Her songs come from deep within to explore a wide range of emotions and a sense of self-discovery, and her velvety vocal style invokes a sense of heart, passion and truthfulness. Kriss was a founding member of Indianapolis-based band Diamonds and Rust, and has enjoyed regional success with their debut release, “Bitterskin”. Since 1991, Diamonds and Rust has taken on many forms, ranging from a duo to a 5 piece rock band showcasing some of Indianapolis’ finest music veterans. “Bitterskin” was voted Best Album of 2002 by Indy’s Nuvo Magazine. In more informal settings, she has sung with Susan Tedeschi, and members of Hot Tuna, Rusted Root and The Grateful Dead. Other projects featuring Kriss on vocals include Muncie, Indiana-based bands Fire Hydrant, Man and Dharma Dogs. Her current style reflects the singer-songwriter, and delves into ponderings on personal relationships, love, family and self-awareness. Her live performances serve to communicate a wealth of influences, from Tom Waits and Concrete Blonde to Patty Griffin and Lucinda Williams, to Patsy Cline and Emmylou Harris. She encompasses her own original music and flows from there into classic gems and well-known standards to create an intimate musical experience.
