Nathaniel Seer began his musical career as a child singing with his father in an inner city gospel choir. He went on to study classical violin for many years before giving it up in favor of writing. Seer struggled with wanderlust until he settled in Bloomington, IN and discovered the perfect marriage of music and writing. By uprooting the mixed genre of fractured or anti-folk and reworking it to fit his vision, our Seer has found a voice the likes of Iron & Wine and Leonard Cohen.
While it is typical to list Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra as inspirations, unlike the onslaught of artists who are also compared to these standards, Seer blends his unique pop sensibilities with classical composition training. At once literate and familiar, Seer's music is of a mind to stay with you without explanation.
