John Condron
High energy rock and roll with substance--the Manchester scene meets Bruce S., meets Jeff Buckley, meets the Smiths, meets Material Issue, all wrapped in the deep influences of the Beatles and the working class Irish, describes the catchy songwriting and hard working live performances of John Condron. Philadelphia native and young member of the world renown PhiladelphiA Boys Choir (three world tours including the Paris Opera House), Condron formed the Philly based trio “J.C. Taxi” and played the East Coast for over three years. Later, John took up rhythm guitar and backing vocal duties for the New York based rock band “Poets & Slaves”, signed on Xemu Records out of New York. After touring and recording, “Poets” relocated to the Chicagoland area. John next worked on his first solo recording, “My Own Device." John toured “My Own Device” for over two years, playing many Chicagoland venues as well as LA and New England. After years of writing and playing, John was joined by Jeff Bella (bass) and Matt Baumann (drums) who formed “The Benefit.” John Condron & the Benefit are currently touring John's second CD, "Down to Dorsey". John Condron has played: CBGB’s (New York), Summerfest (Wisconsin), Wetlands (New York), Double Door (Chicago), Metro (Chicago), The Green Mill (Chi.), Fitzgeralds (Berwyn), Beyond Baroque (LA), Paris Opera House… and played over 300 shows since 2000.
