Jon Peet
Bio.
Jon first played guitar at 13, teaching himself the basics on a two stringed acoustic, bought from a friend at high school. He first experienced " the buzz " of performing, whilst taking part in a school leavers concert in his last year at Cansfield High School, Wigan.
It was six months later when in a band at college that Jon reluctantly, stepped forward as lead vocal, the only reason being,no one else wanted to do it. This was when here he gained confidence in his own abilities & when it also became apparent to others, that he had something special, not just a good sound but also, an amazing vocal range.
It was soon after in Nov 2003,on his 18th birthday, Jon was presented with a birthday gift made all the more special, because it was funded by a collection made by his good friends at Wigan college, who's generosity funded a " one day session" at - The Jaraf House Recording Studio's in Wigan.
The end result being, Jon's first,demo.C.D.
His unique talent soon became obvious, as the sound engineer started to record the levels, Jon began to sing a flawless version of "Hallelujah" the Leonard Cohen song which was popularised by the legendary, Jeff Buckley.
Jon's rendition left everyone present, utterly astonished at his vocal range he showed his ability to sing, a note-perfect, falsetto.
Only a week later, he was contacted by John Kettle, a respected Wigan music producer and songwriter & the owner of (The Jared House) studios.
John Kettle, continued to give his help and support to Jon and is currently working on the production of his first c.d.
The music editor of a local newspaper, recently quoted.
"ONCE a decade a talent such as this appears. As infinitesimal as the sunset, as clear, deep and dark as the Arctic, Jon's voice is astonishing. His is the voice of soul, of gospel. His aching version of the Cohen/ Buckley's " Hallelujah", conveys at once the hope, betrayal, exultation and ecstasy of the master songwriter.Guy Garvey to Eddie Vedder,Thom Yorke to Jeff Buckley,we are looking at another "God given" talent here."
Jon has recently accepted an invite to perform at, The 7th Annual Jeff Buckley Birthday Tribute Concert. Uncommon Ground, Chicago, IL. O.K....(16th & 17th Nov. 2004).
