The highly original band Bourbon Princess, led by songwriter and bassist Monique Ortiz, blends lyric poetry with beautiful, adventurous sonic textures. On their latest CD, Black Feather Wings, Monique and her bandmates — original Morphine drummer Jerome Deupree, Either/Orchestra saxophonist/leader Russ Gershon and guitarist/pianist Jim Moran — draw on the rich legacy of new wave, jazz and blues while defining their own unique territory. The sequel to 2000's Stopline, Black Feather Wings has earned Bourbon Princess recognition well beyond their Boston home. Expect a new album (Produced by Monique Ortiz and engineered by Paul Q. Kolderie) in early 2005.
