Robyn Harris

Robyn Harris discovered a love for music much later in life. She did not grow up singing at 3 years old or playing violin at 5. Though she was always in awe of singers and musicians, it wasn’t until college that she really took an interest in guitar and music. Gradually, she learned how to play and after a few years, began singing and writing for the first time.
Robyn began performing in September ’03, and since then has played in over 30 venues, from ‘The Bitter End’ in New York City to ‘The Stardust‘ in Jerusalem, which overflowed with fans during Harris’ performance in August (‘04). In a review of the performance, Roni Shandar writes, “When Robyn is on stage, she has an impressive appearance and self confidence which draws the audience in”. (Kol Hai'r, 08.13.2004) It is her quirkiness and ability to make the audience laugh, which makes a live show not only engaging and moving, but also entertaining and fun.
Harris is quickly making a name for herself, opening for artists such as John Cale (from the Velvet Underground), Nini Camps, and Pepper's Ghost and sharing the stage with NY locals, Natalia Zukerman, Sam Shaber and Kevin So. Her sweet, engaging voice and intricate guitar playing are carefully crafted to create passionate and charming songs, swinging from folk to jazz and blues to rock.
Unlike most young singer/songwriters, Harris adds a surprising degree of worldliness to her music. A native of Northern California, Robyn left the comforts of home in search of inspiration in the form of a year-long trek around the globe. With a backpack and guitar in tow, she traveled 5 continents returning with songs that reflected the struggles and rewards of everyone she encountered. “I met the most amazing people, they were so welcoming and friendly, but the language and cultural barriers made it impossible for them to truly get to know me”. Her song “Without Being Known” was the result, one of six tracks on her independently released EP, “Two Red Doors.” (Dec ’03) Now back in The States, Robyn is focusing her attention on recording her first full-length album and performing regularly with an unbridled drive found in few artists today. Now that she’s seen the world, it would seem that it’s only a matter of time before the world sees her.
