Formed in 2003 by the merging of two local bands, Anonymous American exploded onto the ever-growing Omaha music scene with a vengeance. In a city that has garnered national attention via the Saddle Creek Records roster, Anonymous American is determined to make their mark in music with a sound that combines the independent vibe, but is true to the Midwestern roots. Singer/songwriter Matt Whipkey formed the band after his previous project the Movies split ways. A rock band with roots appeal, The Movies got the attention of Omaha’s ears with live shows that literally got in the face of the listeners. Utilizing this momentum, Anonymous American continues to develop their live shows to near legendary proportions. Energetic and powerful, Whipkey sings with a passion and style that captures the audience and keeps them focused on the show.
