BLAIR is an award winning self described Urban Folk Poet/Singer/Songwriter from Detroit, MI. In the words of Metro Times journalist Melissa Giannini, "Blair focuses his work on the hope that rises from the ashes of despair."

BLAIR is a 2002 NATIONAL POETRY SLAM CHAMPION-Team Detroit, New York Bowery Poetry Club Queer Slam Champion 2003. In addition to being Poetry Editor of The Furnace Magazine, Blair is also a poetry instructor in Detroit Public Schools as part of the city's Inside Out Literary Arts Project. He is the January 2005 HBO Def Poerty Jam Featured Poet. He is currently studying privately with a poetry instructor.

NOMINATED for five Detroit Music Awards (Songwriter/Acoustic Act), Blair has won BEST FOLK ARTIST from Real Detroit Weekly in 2002 and the Detroit/Wayne County Council for the Arts, History and Humanities Performance Award in 2003. He's also Def Poetry Jam/Metro Times 2003 Poetry Contest.

BLAIR continues his exciting tour schedule in 2005, including a trip to Kwazulu Natal, South Africa this summer to perform as part of Walk and Squawk's The Walking Project, as well as solo performances in Montreal, Quebec and all over the continental U.S. He's performed at New York's CBGBs, Knitting Factory and Nuyorican Poets Cafe as well as Chicago's historic Green Mill and Old Town School of Folk Music as part of its Voices of the New Black Millenium Series. He's played and read at Denver's Mercury Lounge, Boston's Lizard Lounge and Can Tab as well as shows in Detroit at St. Andrew's Hall, Hart Plaza and The Magic Stick, The Max and has toured all over the U.S. He's performed at Detroit's Movement Festival, the largest free concert in North America.

BLAIR has performed with Soul Coughing's Mike Doughty, and on bills with Stevie Wonder. His band Urban Folk Collective has opened for Oscar winner, Michael Moore (Bowling For Columbine), Regie Gibson (Love Jones), has played with Jerome Dupree (Morphine) and co-headlined indie festivals with Bitch and Animal, The Butchies, Mary Lou Lord, Tribe 8 and members of Sweet Honey in the Rock. He's played on festivals with Wilco, Richie Havens, The Dirtbombs, The Hetchmen and electronica wizards Kevin Sauderson and Carl Craig.
