Born in Victoria, Australia, Michael Charles picked up his first guitar at the tender age of five and a spark was ignited that fired him to produce numerous singles and five original albums in his homeland alone. After enjoying much success in Australia through record sales, television appearances, radio air play, music videos, magazine interviews, live performances, and touring, Charles decided to test the waters here in the U.S.A. Michael Charles? career in America started with an invitation from the legendary Buddy Guy to appear at ?Buddy Guy?s Legends? and continuing on playing the whole Chicago Blues club circuit. But like Eric Clapton, (who M. Charles has been identified with many times, including by the host in a live taping at WGN?s television studio) Michael is more appropriately placed in the ?pop? music category, while merging into styles such as rock, blues, soul, and adult listening. While Charles promises, among his releases, a few re-issues of his earlier albums, he does state ??one cannot live in their past. The CD?s I am releasing possess the type of songs that I feel can span the decades, and I have my feet firmly planted in American soil now, consider America my home, and, I am confident my music from the past, present, and future will be accepted here. I hope to contribute to the ?American music scene? the same way I did in Australia??.
