Lindsay Mac
Cellist and singer-songwriter Lindsay Mac offers a fresh look at acoustic music by combining folk/pop structure with plucked and bowed cello.
Wonderfully diverse, catchy and memorable, her music has roots in jazz, folk, Americana, funk and rock while not tasting like any specific genre.
Lindsay recently opened for kd lang at Boston's Fleet Pavilion and has been featured on Nashville's NBC-affiliate television series, "Performing Songwriters". She has been the recipient of several scholarships, grants and prizes that have helped to keep her afloat on a artist's budget. Her image appears in "Guitar World", "Performing Songwriter", and "Women Who Rock" magazines as part of a promotion deal with the Fostex Corporation.
Miss Mac has even kept up her bowing technique enough to play with jazz bass legend Charlie Haden and saxophonist Michael Brecker in Carnegie Hall as part of the JVC Jazz Festival.
Born and raised by hard-working, party-hungry, bohemian parents in Iowa, Lindsay was fed pork tenderloin and Midwestern microbrews for breakfast. This accounts for her good looks and generally bad breath.
After moving east for school at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, this classically trained musician started fooling around and began singing and plucking little ditties on her cello. The ditties stuck and now she is ditty-crazed, making a career out of singing and playing her cello while always striving to write rich and provocative lyrics.
Lindsay recently finished studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston and is now on a national tour in support of her debut album, "Small Revolutions". Contributing their wonderful and unique voices to the album are two-time Grammy winning cellist, Eugene Friesen, famous violinist, Matt Glaser (The Wayfaring Strangers), and pianist Tim Ray (Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Jane Siberry). Look for Lindsay Mac and her band playing live in your town! |
