Having spent time in several rock and post-punk bands in the 90s, Jeffrey began writing and recording his own songs in early 2003. Recording mostly at home on a limited budget, and even more limited equipment, Jeffrey wears his influences on his sleeve while maintaining his own unique lyrical vision and melodic eccentricities. With a songwriting style often compared to Grant Lee Buffalo and The Jayhawks, Jeffrey found a fan in Thomas Heath, owner and operator of Indiana's Tract Records, who released a limited edition cassette of Jeffrey's home recordings and demos in January 2004. A split 7" with songwriter Marc Gartman appeared a few months later on Graceless Records, Jeffrey's own DIY record label, with the Black EP following in Spring 2005. |
