Laura Clapp
A little bit of sass, a little bit of blues and a ton of chick rock put Laura in a category all her own.
With themes of love, sex and a slightly twisted outlook on religion, Laura delves into people's hearts, uninvited, and is soon asked to come in. She speaks from the perspective of a lost soul, an optimistic lover and a jaded kid who just realized she's a grown-up.
Originally from New England, Laura made her way to Boston to the Berklee College of Music for a bit of education. While studying the intricacies of music Laura formed The Laura Clapp Band in the Spring of 2000. The band formed a large following and performed at some of Boston’s best (and worst) venues.
Fresh out of college and faced with the choices of New York, Los Angeles or Nashville, Laura decided to starve comfortably and head for the Music City. Since her arrival in Nashville, Laura has created quite a buzz; co-directing the nationally acclaimed Chick Singer Night at The Bluebird Cafe and by making her living solely as a performer/demo singer.
Released in May of 2001 Laura’s debut album "Where are you going?" was chosen as the #5 album of WLIU South Hampton's top 20 albums of 2001 by radio personality Bonnie Grice. The album came out ahead of such artists as Bob Dylan, Billy Joel and Janet Jackson.
Laura is currently working on her sophomore album, "Simply," release date June 2005.
