Christy Ogilvie is a Chicago singer and songwriter. Since the early 1990s, she has
performed at countless clubs in and around the city (Beat Kitchen, The Pump
Room, Martyr’s, The Gold Star Sardine Bar, Toulouse, Gentry Cabaret). She
has also brought her unique energy and sound to private parties with such bands as
the TVK Orchestra, Orchestra 33, and Stanley Paul.
When Christy works with her own band, she brings the best players in the area with
her: Kraig McCreary, veteran studio player, musical director for Johnny B. and
the China Club, guitarist for Big Roy and in his own act, Lucky Kraig; Bob Lizik,
currently touring with Brian Wilson; Jim Hines, also on tour with Brian Wilson;
Peter Saxe, flawless jazz and pop player; and many others such as Jim Gailloreto,
Rick Embach, Howard Levy and more. Whatever the gig calls for, Christy tailors
the band to the venue and the crowd, working in all styles, from rock and pop to
intimate piano/bass duos.
Fitzgerald’s Night Club in Berwyn hosted Christy’s CD release event on November
30, where she was backed by Chicago band, Big Roy.
Christy’s new CD, Akimbo, is an eclectic blend of jazz-influenced pop, funky
gospel and a bit of folk music. Christy’s voice has been described as “fresh and
honest,” “direct, untrendy” and “like Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt at the same
time.” As an independent artist, she is promoting her work and selling the CD in
area shops, on CDBABY.com and at gigs.
