Tim Blane
Tim Blane is a Boston based singer/songwriter. His music has the melodic flow of mainstream pop, the harmonic nuance of jazz, and the lyrical honesty of country. Blane's sound brings to mind artists like Jason Mraz, Ryan Adams, Peter Gabriel and Lyle Lovett.
He has performed all over the east coast, opening for national acts like The Verve Pipe, The Push Stars, and Virginia Coalition. He has played at renowned clubs such as House of Blues and Bill's Bar (Boston), The Lion's Den and Elbow Room (NYC), Toad (New Haven), 3rd and Linsley (Nashville), and colleges such as UMass, Harvard, Duke, Bates, and Wellesley.
In 2005 Tim recorded his debut album, "In the Meantime" just outside of Charlottesville, VA. It is produced by Chris Keup (Jason Mraz, Josh Kelley, Rachel Yamagata) and engineered by Stewart Myers (Shawn Colvin, Jason Mraz, Lifehouse, Agents of Good Roots.)
Before embarking on a solo career, he fronted the Boston band Invisible Downtown for 2 years, recording an album with them and playing at colleges and clubs throughout the east coast.
After graduating from Amherst College with degrees in music and psychology, Blane moved to Boston in 2001 and spent two years at the renowned Berklee College of Music. There he honed his craft as a songwriter and performer, and left Berklee in 2003 to focus fully on becoming a touring musician.
Originally from Maryland, Blane began playing violin at age 4, and piano at age 5. As a child he won the Maryland State Piano Competition, was runner-up in the Maryland State Composing Competition, and placed 3rd in the Maryland State Violin Competition. |
