A riveting performer, Elza captivates her audience with her mesmerizing voice and her soulful, often playful sound. Within the first five minutes of seeing her live you’d swear you knew her your whole life. Her disarming combination of strength and vulnerability can be contributed to her unusual childhood and life experiences. Elza’s father a German, abstract mathematician, insisted she learn to read music before learning to read words, and with that her love of music was born. She grew up back and forth between Germany and South Carolina and in SC picked up the soulful singing style of the low-country and at age 14 began playing guitar and writing songs. She was a featured new artist on the main stage at The Marin Music Festival, has opened for artists such as Martin Sexton and Bob Weir and just recently made her Canadian debut at Toronto’s Winterfolk Festival. Elza currently tours, runs her own record label, enjoys surfing and speaks at High Schools to aspiring songwriters. She is one of those special artists that touches you with the first note and holds you spellbound until the last. | |
