A deceptively unusual ("wry") new beginning ("dawn") in music, Wry Dawn plays an eclectic mix of "grass-rock" originals: folk-grassy-acoustic tunes with a rock-electric edge. Kinda like Steve Earle + Bob Dylan + The Counting Crows + Primus + The Kingston Trio + The Soggybottom Boys + ... Founded in March '02 and based in Dallas, TX, Wry Dawn is at root the ridiculously cheerful acoustic duo of D.W."dub" Hadley and Paul "sly" Caceres ... which on demand blossoms into a full-band experience that can include mandolin, guitar, bass, harmonica, papoose, banjo, accordion, hand percussion, and full-kit drums, with plenty of audience participation and other surprises (from the "fun kit", of course) thrown in. ... Wry Dawn is an originals-based band but has a diverse collection of cover tunes ready for any show at hand. Right on? Right arm? Wry Dawn! |
