Jessica Fogle
Jessica Fogle has been writing songs since she was 3 years old, starting out with the hits "A Nickle and a Shank" (she doesn't know what that means) and "Shaboopiedoo".
She later won statewide songwriting competitions in elementary school by writing themed songs about world peace and children governing.
Now she writes crazy/emotional/bittersweet rocky-folky-bluesy songs ala Fiona Apple, Joan Osbourne, Aimee Mann, Liz Phair, and many of her other lifelong and recent idols.
She also has a masters degree in musical theatre writing, which infiltrates her style at times, and an obsession with Chopin and Beethoven, which was beaten into her fingers from an early age and at the conservatory where she was forced to "TRANSPOSE!" (recurring nightmares:-)(for all you literal folks, she was not actually beaten).
She currently lives in Chicago, and teaches piano lessons around town...and occasionally music directs when the mood or opportunity strikes.
To find her: she semi-regularly attends the Old Town School of Folk Music's songwriters group, and can be seen some Tuesdays at the Grafton. |
