Nikki Capra
Nikki Capra is a singer, a songwriter, and a poet from Denver who lives in Chicago. She creates beautiful lyric imagery in her songs--mood inducing vignettes that pull the listener into each song with vocals that show both range and emotion. Her sometimes full of power chords, sometimes simple and lyrical piano arrangements are supported by bass, violin, and drums/percussion.
Nikki recorded her demo at Chicago Recording Company (CRC) in early 2005 with engineer/producer Mat Lejeune. Later that year, she formed her band with drummer/percussionist Dan Kuemmel, bassist Dan Huber, and violinist Erin Hillert.
In February 2006, the judges at the international Song of the Year songwriting contest selected Nikki as one of five finalists in the pop category for her song "Snow Angels" off her upcoming EP The Astronaut (July 2006).
You can also hear Nikki on the track "I Never Could" from Carbon Four's new album Why Your Eyes No Longer Shine and on the Creepy D track "Ricky the Cougar" from their upcoming release.
Nikki published her first volume of prose and poetry "Under the Willow Tree" in 1998 with the University of Northern Colorados honors program.
