Dolce
Singer-songwriters Steve and Laura Franklin are creating a musical buzz that begins in their home state of Oklahoma and extends to the rest of the country. They stay busy by playing 80-100 shows per year and touring non-stop in the Mid-West, on the East Coast, and on the West Coast. Although Dolce was formed a little over a year ago, they have already performed at some of the most sought after venues and festivals throughout the United States. In 2005 and ’06, Dolce showcased at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah as well as Diversafest (DFest) in Tulsa, OK.
Steve and Laura were both surrounded by music at an early age. Laura entered the musical world with the classical violin at age four. She grew up performing with orchestras and accompanying artists such as Roy Clark, David Gates (of ‘Bread’), and the Oakridge Boys. She since has added piano, bass, acoustic guitar and the occasional accordion to her repertoire.
Steve became interested in singing and songwriting in his late teens. Inspired by a James Taylor album that he found in his parents attic, Steve was inspired to start writing and performing himself. His act combines engaging acoustic guitar and melodically interesting vocal performances with a vast array of lyrical subject matter. From the profound to the profane, there are few situations in which Steve does not find a story to tell.
In June 2006, Dolce released their first full length album, ‘Soles of our Shoes’. They immediately hit the road to tour in support of their release. The duo recently returned from a tour in California and will travel back to the EAst coast in October '06.
