Jen Murdza
When you first lay eyes and ears on Boston-based singer/songwriter, Jen Murdza, you won't believe the voice filling the room is hers. This petite blonde, standing at a mere 5'2" nearly hidden by her guitar, can silence a crowded room with just one smoky, sultry note. Her original music combines rich vocals, infectious grooves, and vivid lyrics. The final sound is an addictive, foot-stomping mixture of Pop, Soul, and Jazz that will take you on a journey from sassy "old-school" grooves to emotional ballads.
She has been compared to artists such as soulful singers Fiona Apple and The Cowboy Junkies’ frontwoman Margo Timmins, as well as jazz songstress Sarah Vaughn. However, the overwhelming feedback is Jen Murdza has a voice and style all her own.
Jen’s love affair with music began at the age of 2 when her mom, who had a voice like Karen Carpenter, taught her to sing Jennifer Juniper by Donovan. Her mother was her first and biggest inspiration introducing her little girl to R&B and Soul legends Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, and Marvin Gaye. Jen continues to be inspired by a wide range of artists from Elvis Presley and Ella Fitzgerald to Portishead and Brandi Carlile.
Since its recent release, her debut EP Things Untold has garnered praise from the press as well as play from television and radio. Fox 25 Morning News in Boston, recently had Jen perform live in-studio and she was featured in The Boston Herald in mid June. NECN (New England Cable News) booked Jen to perform live on air in April, and they continuously playher music to close out multiple shows.
Jen recently had 3 songs place in NumberOneMusic.com's Top Ten Weekly Chart with her songs Lamb and This Is Real both reaching #1 over popular recording artists Matisyahu and James Blunt. She currently has over 55,000 plays. Songs from "Things Untold" have been added to over 35 regional radio stations, internet radio, and podcasts. |
