	Sarah Potenza Sarah Green Potenza is a singer, songwriter hailing from the small ocean side city of Providence, Rhode Island. A misfit within the confines of a formal education, fate flagged sarah down on interstate 95. An eight point buck jumped in front of her VW resulting in a three thousand dollar check form her insurance company. Potenza found herself at a crossroads. Leaving school in the fall of her senior year, crossing her fingers and heading west Sarah landed in Chicago. "I was bored with my life and that three grand was my ticket to ride." An early childhood exposure to music legends was the foundations of Potenza's voice. A lot of people ask me where I got my voice. My parents put on all kinds of great stuff. Potenza recalls. Etta James, Joni Mitchell and Joe Cocker were just a few of the artists that Sarah would hear around the house. "On Saturdays we would all clean the house together. Sometimes my mother would turn the music up so loud you could barely here the vacuum over the Allmond Brothers." Having already performed Solo at legendary Chicago venues such as The House of Blues, Subterranean, Metro, and Estrojam, she is forging ahead developing her skill as an artist and performer. "I love playing solo. Its so comfortable, but its not where I am headied. Potenza says." With new influences including Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris, Sarah has developed her unique style of soulful blues and gritty country rock. Sarah's latest endeavors include The Sarah Potenza Band. "I want to move people, get them grooving and feeling alive. Thats what this full band is all about. I want to hear my song at full force, fully realized, you know." Sarah's work has won her a performance on Acoustic Chicago, a compilation featuring top bands and solo artists in the Chicagoland area.
