With a band comprised of the most talented musicians New York has to offer, Paula Valstein has been the name on every scenester’s lips since her induction to the music scene almost three years ago. Passionate and fiery onstage, her live performances have been described by show goers as enthralling and fierce. The youngest daughter of a local businessman, Paula grew up steeped in the arts, her hometown the bohemian city of Tel Aviv. Having mastered classical piano by age 15, Paula eventually added acoustic guitar to the recipe. With Greg Petito on electric guitar, Emek Rave on bass and Shane Row on drums, "Paula Valstein & Walk into Madness" creates a signature sound of beautiful free flowing rock melodies over sophisticated jazz harmonies. It’s been a long time since New York’s East Village has seen anything as fresh as this artist’s sound. Busy transforming prestigious rooms like Knitting Factory, The Living Room, Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall into magnets for the masses; a rising buzz has been steadily spinning around her art. Paula Valstein is not only accustomed to world-famous rock clubs but has performed in many festivals and on huge stages. She’s been featured at the 16th International Jazz Festival at the Red Sea in 2002, the ABC Network’s Extreme Pinnacle festival, “Women & Videotape” Blues Festival, The Jerusalem Festival of Jazz and Love, The International Jazz Festival at the Tel Aviv Opera house and countless others. These days the band is hard at work on their long-awaited debut album, ‘Walk Into Madness’. It’s expected to be released in December 2007, and sneak previews by fans and critics have already dubbed it “The 2007 Album to listen to”! |
