From Monte Mario in Rome, Italy came Ellen McManus and Tom Neuman. Although both were originally from the States, they became acquainted with each other during their time in Italy. Soon after their meeting, Ellen, singer-songwriter from Chicago, and Tom, violinist virtuoso from Milwaukee, collaborated together, creating a distinctive, yet edgy sound. Tom's violin compositions are relentless, producing a non-stop rawness that never fails to accent Ellen's rich and powerful voice. Ellen not only has the ability to write abrasive, technical guitar licks/progressions, but she can also lighten up her voice and guitar, reflecting her both her delicate and hard sides. Tom's violin parts either mirror or clash the emotions Ellen conveys, giving the music a unique edge. |
