Aaron Berg
Aaron Berg is a rapidly emerging folk singer out of Brooklyn who has been turning heads across the country at an astonishing rate. Born in Greenville, South Carolina along the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in 1984, Berg has a voice that will call sirens from their ocean beds and lure them onto the dark landscape of an urban wasteland. Mr. Berg's lyrics are infused with both rebellious seduction and a strident social awareness far beyond his years. The songs' sometimes alt-country flare is bolstered by gritty upright and electric basses, grainy late-night guitars, and a boyish southern charm. Ultimately, Berg's soulful delivery burns off whatever clouds hover overhead, leaving the audience under a wash of sunlight amid the unforgiving indictments of a generation buried in shadow.
At twenty, Mr. Berg performed at the Windgap Folk Festival with Peter Rowan [lead singer of Bill Monroe 1963-1967], other sidemen included Chris Hillman [The Byrds] and Herb Pedersen [Earl Scruggs]. On July 6th, he will be appearing for the third time in three months at the American Folk Art Museum Friday Concert Series in New York, back by popular demand. His debut album, "Songs For Madame X" released February 20th now its third printing can be heard on Southeast indy-giant WNCW in North Carolina, and WJFF outside Woodstock upstate, as well as a growing number of other national playlists.
