Taylor Cowan

American-born, Dutch-raised singer/songwriter, Taylor Cowan played for the first time solo at the Labor Day Open Mic at Uncommon Ground.

His music follows many traditional folk forms-- drawing from influences as diverse as Beck, Beirut, English Grime, Lou Reed, Paul Simon, the Rolling Stones and "Mr. Zimmerman himself".

In his own words his musical mission is to create per song "Not a scene, or an instance a silent, understood feeling."

Rather than champion a social issue or express personal grief the artist is more in favor of a "playful discourse" with the listener's ear.

Taylor is currently a Fiction Writing major at Columbia College Chicago.

This is the beginning of what hopefully will be a shining career from this young man.
