Amy Speace
“Amy Speace has one of those fetching voices, the kind that taps you on the shoulder and motions seductively for you to follow it around corner after dark corner.”
– Scott Brodeur, NO DEPRESSION MAGAZINE
“Rarely do I receive a CD that is complete in its brilliance… like a relieving wind on a hot day, Amy reminds me that there is always someone out there, who has The Goods.”
Michael Jaworek, THE BIRCHMERE THEATRE
“[Speace’s arresting voice combines the best parts of Lucinda Williams with Roseanne Cash… [and] brings an unflagging sense of 21st century hipness to all her songs. Songs For Bright Street delivers big-budget sound worthy of and A-list performer.”
- Steven Stone, VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE
Equal parts poetry and sass, singer-songwriter Amy Speace emerged from NYC’s fertile downtown music scene to land a record deal this year with Judy Collins’ Wildflower Records. Her Wildflower debut, “Songs For Bright Street,” was produced by James Mastro and recorded over the past two years with her longtime backup band, The Tearjerks, in Hoboken, NJ. Winding its way through a crossover of radio-friendly pop/rock, folk, and country, “Bright Street” is graced by guest appearances by Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Cliff Eberhardt and E-Street Band fiddler Soozie Tyrell. A born performer who is also an accomplished and critically acclaimed stage actress, having toured with The National Shakespeare Company and acted in many Off-Broadway plays, Amy exudes warmth and grace onstage and has shared the stage with Judy Collins, Alejandro Escovedo, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Forbert among many others. The Nashville Scene says she has a “smart style that balances wry humor with open-hearted honesty.” She is a Kerrville New Folks Finalist, a Rocky Mountain Folks Festival New Song Contest Finalist, the 2005 winner of the KRCL-sponsored Founder’s Title Folk & Bluegrass Songwriter Showcase, a finalist at the FlatRock Music Festival Contest and many other honorable mentions. She and the band have just contributed the title track to “Born To The Breed” a tribute album to the songwriting of Judy Collins.
