Shelley Miller
Shelley Miller moved to Chicago in 1998 to escape the high rents of her native Silicon Valley. Somewhere along the way, she picked up a thrift-shop guitar, taught herself a few chords, and set out to change the world.
Five years later, Shelley performs regularly in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. She has showcased at the Nashville New Music Conference (2003), Indianapolis Music Conference (2003) and Midpoint Music Festival (2002, 2003), and was a semi-finalist in the 2001 Dallas Songwriters' Association Songwriting Contest.
Much of Shelley Miller's development as a musician can be attributed to:
the Old Town School of Folk Music, where she teaches guitar, studies, volunteers and otherwise finds mirth and merriment
Shelley released her first CD, Tear Me Down, in 2002. Her music has been featured on SBS Records' Sampler #3 and on Hope: Next 2 Exits, a 9/11 benefit CD produced by Bannon Productions. She is a member of Indiegrrl, GoGirls Music, Songsalive! and CHaT (Chicago Harmony and Truth), and has collaborated with other Chicago artists as a member of the all-female improvisational collective She Laughs and folk/poetry duo Moon Lodge. When not performing, Shelley can often be found careening her bicycle through the streets of Chicago...singing.
