Mike Mangione
Recently graduated from college and knowing he wasn't built for the 9-5,
Mike said no thanks to his father's steady warehouse job, packed up his dog
and his guitars, and hit the road performing music. Mike Mangione is a
singer songwriter from Chicago with music running through his veins, almost
literally. Following in his famous relative Chuck Mangione's footsteps, Mike
plays music around the country spreading his music to anyone and everyone.
Mike began playing drums at the young age of seven and eventually
tought himsefl guitarby the time he was 13. Being left handed he did what
felt natural and picked up a right handed guitar, turned it upside down and
started playing. With his "Strong, desperate voice," his captivating ability
for melody, and his "enthralling, passion filled live show", Mike has been
fronting bands and touching people with his lyrics since his junior high
school days. Now, many years later as a "semi-mature: adult, you can catch
Mike on the road with either a solo guitar or his backing band, The Left
Hand Band.
Mike's style is "reminiscent of fellow contemporaries Ryan Adams, Jeff
Tweedy and the late Jeff Buckley" Pointblank DM) . His ability to play and
write a variety of songs ranging from folk picking tunes, ballad love songs,
country storytelling, and acoustic rock, reveal his diverse influences and
showcase his musical abilities.
In the year 2004 alone, Mike booked, promoted and performed over 200
shows, crossing the country 5 separate times. He has played from Seattle to
Atlanta, Los Angeles to Boston and countless famous and forgotten towns in
between. He has played in venues large and small ranging from coffeehouses,
bars, clubs, theaters, grass fields and parking lots, for audiences of up to
800 people.
Mike recently recorded fourteen songs in Los Angeles, where he and his
brother Tom played all of the instruments on the album. He is presently
playing his music in the Midwestern region while considering offers of new
representation for label, managment, publishing, and legal support.
