Andrue Sullivan began creating a bit of an international buzz with his debut EP, Love Prophecies. Through that collection of stripped-down solo performances, he gained a prestigious Featured Artist spot at JeffBuckley.com's Peyote Radio Theater, and showed us the truly moving starting point for his unique sound; a sound that has matured and been much expanded in his first full-length release, A Breath In Two. His artistic influences are very wide reaching, spanning the gamut from rock to folk to classical. The result is a darkly tinged alternative/pop/rock blend, leaning towards introspective and emotional themes. Though his various influences have their own parts to play in his music, Andrue always gives priority to maintaining a distinct and unique voice. His songcraft stems from a desire to create original music that is refreshing and innovative, and which establishes that special performer/audience connection so unique to the art of music. This becomes clear to anyone in attendance at his performances. Andrue's songs are full of wandering, somewhat mournful melodies, delivered by a powerful voice that ranges from the smoothest touch to stratospheric roars. His talents have often been compared to such artists as David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell, Freddie Mercury and others. Andrue has been singing, as well as playing the guitar and drums, for many years; and his performance experience is extensive. Both with bands and as a solo artist, he has performed in venues throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois. His fan base is widely spread, consisting of listeners throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and Scandinavia. Andrue has lived/worked in Memphis, TN and New York City. | ||
