Uncommon Ground, Lakeview is currently hiring lead line cooks for our brunch/lunch and dinner service.  Uncommon Ground is a GRA certified four star “green” restaurant with a sustainable, local, and organic philosophy.  The ideal candidate understands these ideals, has a passion for cooking and creating food shaped by these standards, and the desire to further develop their culinary skills and professional experience.  Individuals must have three or more years of kitchen experience, along with substantial supervisory experience. RESTAURANT MANAGER INTERNSHIP:

uncommon ground - Edgewater

Mission:  Develop a comprehensive understanding of Uncommon Ground’s mission & goals along with the day to day running of the restaurant.  Become familiar with each manager’s different duties that contribute to the success of the business.


Job Duties:


-Train through all FOH positions, complete appropriate service tests to fully understand the daily work of every service position


-Become a pillar of strength & constant presence at the host stand to ensure a smooth shift & consistent welcome to guests.


-Effectively motivate & coach staff to improve knowledge & skill.  Ensure that all service standards are being met on a day to day basis.


-Assist managers in the running of a smooth & efficient floor.


-Assist managers in daily upkeep & maintenance of restaurant.


- Attend weekly managers meetings & contribute ideas on better systems, training education & service.

-Learn proper opening procedures & AM checkout responsibilities.


-Assist managers in weekly ordering & monthly inventories


-Learn proper closing procedures & PM checkout responsibilities.

 

The ideal candidate will be in school or recently graduated and looking for an entrance into the world of hospitality management. This is a special opportunity to work at a regonized and award winning restaurant in an entry level management role. uncommon ground is searching for talented, service oriented individuals to come on board with our crew as we get ready for summer.

  • We are looking for hostesses and servers with relevant restaurant experience. The ideal candidate will have worked for a lunch/dinner business with medium to high volume that and is used to dealing with moderate level beer/wine/liquor service and routinely changing food menus.

  • Our best team members distribute the following characteristics: customer service adept, hard working, energetic, outgoing, calm, detail oriented, sales oriented and looking to make money.

Uncommon ground donates the restaurants used fryer oil to the Loyola University Bio-Diesel program.
