Anne-Marie Akin is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. A singer-songwriter, poet and essayist, she teaches at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. Anne-Marie writes on the guitar, sometimes plays the banjo, and sings “like an angel emptied the whiskey bottle.” She is working on her third album, a collection of love songs called “The Drink I Need.”
Shelley Miller's music is a piece of broken glass that fits comfortably in your hands. Whole and broken, breaking open, words and sounds from the space between lost and found. Loud and soft. Sweet sings with scratchy edges. A fire lit to provide warmth. An unapologetic shape-shifter, Miller's released 6 albums - most recently 2016's Soft Ledges, recorded with the indie-rock band of the same name. She's toured the country, playing festivals and coffee shops and punk info shops; played drums in an alt-country band and noise guitar in a doom metal band, all while serving on the full-time faculty of Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music.
