“I moved to Denver on a whim,” says King Cardinal founder Brennan Mackey. “I’d been living in Chicago, working a finance job that I didn’t love, and I knew exactly what the rest of my life would look like if I stayed there. I decided I wanted to throw everything up in the air and see where it landed.”

It makes sense, then, that the cover of King Cardinal’s stellar debut album, ‘Great Lakes,’ depicts a man catapulting himself headlong into the unknown, trading safety and security for adventure and excitement as he leaps over a protective railing. If the record is any indication, Mackey’s own bold leaps have paid off in spades. Pushing raw roots rock into lush, sonically daring territory with hints of cosmic country and delicate folk, ‘Great Lakes’ showcases the five-piece group’s exceptional musicianship and the powerful emotional depth of the vocal interplay between Mackey and fellow singer Texanna Dennie.

Chicago native Rebecca Jasso is a singer/songwriter who playfully writes around the themes of love, loneliness, and fantasy, skillfully weaving her melodies into the harmonic fabric of her fingerstyle guitar playing. Music has had a strong hold over Rebecca since childhood. At age 10, she took up the guitar, and since the very beginning, sought to write good songs. Despite learning at this young age, it wasn't till after college that she worked up the confidence to take her music to the stage. For years she oscillated between playing solo and in bands, with each wave bringing her closer to chiseling out a style that would be her very own. A visual artist, Rebecca conjures images with her lyrics to insert you into pictures from her own imagination. From soft, autumnal landscapes, to dark, Narnian scenes, each song is a journey into a new story. Her honest voice and beautiful songs will absolutely charm you.

Through the years, during times of hardship and happiness, singer/songwriter Alex Pomerantz, constantly found himself plunking keys on his parent’s upright piano in the living room or on the floor in his room strumming chords on his guitar, with one thing in mind; share a story. After spending the past few years in Nashville, TN and seeing first hand the highs and lows of writing songs 5 days a week Alex has returned to Chicago with a new appreciation for the song. While his Folk influences act as a base for his songs, a love for Pop and Country hooks spread throughout his songs to help share life’s joy, disappointment, love and friendship.
