John Kimsey's original songs twist the roots, drawing on homegrown Southern music styles to map the highways, byways and lowdown dirty ways of contemporary American politics and culture. Singer/guitarist Kimsey's comrades in this effort are Lia McCoo (vocals, flutes, percussion), Morry Fiddler (keyboards), Steve Hashimoto (bass), and Brad Newton (congas, percussion) -- aka the Twisted Roots Quartet. Their unique blend of soulful stylings, "spiky wit and astral Americana has been described as ""Ry Cooder meets Robyn Hitchcock.""
Donna has spent most of her musical years in Chicago, soaking up the ever-present influences of Steve Goodman and John Prine, but while growing up in Park Forest, IL, she would listen to her musical heroes of 70’s, such as Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. She often harmonized with her brother and sister to the songs of Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Dan Fogelberg and Harry Chapin.
