Sam Pilnick’s Nonet Project is a new and exciting large ensemble lead by Music Educator and Saxophonist Sam Pilnick. Stemming from his original Quartet, The Nonet Project provides Sam Pilnick and his band of young Chicago musicians, the ability to perform original compositions and arrangements that derive from the traditions of modern jazz. This group is heavily influenced by Sam’s love of big band music, small group improvisations and the want to explore different timbral experiences, while utilizing traditional jazz instruments. The Nonet Project has performed to audiences throughout Chicago at the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, Elastic Arts and Silvie’s Lounge, among other venues.
Sam Pilnick's Nonet Project features Sam Pilnick (tenor saxophone and arrangements), Emily Kuhn (trumpet), Max Bessesen (alto saxophone), Euan Edmonds (trombone), Joey Rosin (bari saxophone and bass clarinet), Ben Cruz (guitar), Meghan Stagl (piano), Ben Dillinger (bass) and Matt Smalligan (drums).
Led by chameleonic Saxophonist / Multi-Reedist Kyle Madsen, the Kyle Madsen Trio performs an eclectic mix of chordless music that reflects the diversity of Chicago, and it's wide-ranging music scene. Featuring drums, bass, and saxophone/woodwinds, the group performs diverse mix of worldwide music from the past and present.
