Chicago-based folk and country duo, The Major Keys, consists of singing sisters Laura and Ellen Buttitta. Having grown up in a highly musical family, and inspired by a collection of sororal duos such as The Secret Sisters and First Aid Kit, Laura and Ellen have been immersed in harmony and singing together for over two decades. The complimentary registers of an alto and a soprano allow these sisters to produce sweet and sophisticated harmonies with a blend so tight as to often make it impossible to tell whose voice is whose. Featured on Philly D Slim’s album, Teach Me To You, and The Fifth Star Band’s album, Until Further Notice, The Major Keys collaborate frequently with a variety of artists throughout the city, including Resounding Wayves, whose members have provided instrumental backing for the duo. They have performed at an array of music festivals this past summer, as well as local venues such as The Tonic Room, Martyr’s, and the Elbo Room.
Tyler Priest is a blues-based multi-instrumentalist who utilizes loop pedal effects to create a full band sound. He has been fortunate enough to perform all across Chicago and the Midwest, sharing his talents as a backing player, a solo act, and front man. Notable acts he has shared the stage with include Chicago Blues Hall of Fame members Fernando Jones and Felton Crews, as well as touring artists Roaming Bear, and Joshua Powell and the Great Train Robbery.
