HAUNTED LIKE HUMAN w/ Shealeigh and Dead Birds - 7PM | $12

  • Uncommon Ground (Edgewater) 1401 West Devon Avenue Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

Haunted Like Human is bringing a new roots voice to Nashville: two parts folk, one part Americana, and a dash of some indie vibes. Classically trained guitarist Cody Clark has played everything from post-hardcore to jazz. Vocalist Dale Chapman grew up writing prose and poetry, and she brings her strong imagery and storytelling into her music. Through their myriad of influences, the two strive to create an unique and intimate listening experience for their audience. Their debut album, Ghost Stories, came out in September of 2017, and their next EP is set to release this fall.

Shealeigh is a 20-year-old independent singer/songwriter from the Chicago area, whose musical introduction began with an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at age 12. At 13, she wrote the song “What Can I Say,” which was featured on the fourth season of the Radio Disney/Disney Channel program “Next Big Thing” in 2011, as well as in the Disney Channel original movie Radio Rebel and steadily climbed to the #2 spot on the Billboard Kids music chart. In February 2017, Shealeigh self-released her debut EP “We All Need To Go Places” via Soundcloud and Bandcamp. A collection of four melancholy stories, “We All Need To Go Places” is a product of navigating self-dependence, and being in between a fresh start and what comes next.

As Dead Birds, Chicago musician Erica Johnson writes songs that stem from people and places that have left their mark, songs of loss and hope. Weaving a blend of folk and Americana, acoustic and electric, her music draws from influences around the country. Erica is a member of the folk band Families and the indie band Qajaq, bringing her years of singing and writing to the forefront in this new musical project.
