ERIC SOMMER w/ K-Nein and Nick Jester - 8PM | $20

  • Uncommon Ground (Lakeview) 3800 North Clark Street Chicago, IL, 60613 United States (map)

Eric Sommer does just about everything that can be done on a guitar to generate a blues groove, or any groove, for that matter. Which makes it a bit of a challenge to describe his sound, style & approach because no amount of words can communicate the explosive quality of his show. Does he use Open Tunings? Check. Slide Guitar? Check. Lap Slap? Check. Open tunings on the fly? Check. Neck bends? Check. About the only thing this guy and his guitars can’t do is make a drink, and serve it while he’s closing in on some wild hound dog lick from the night before. Not to be missed.

K-Nein (Michael John Krieglstein) is an Americana songwriter and musician who teaches, produces, and performs music in the Chicagoland area. His songwriting draws from his experiences in life having traveled extensively throughout the world. With deep roots in improvisational music as well as composition, K-Nein’s songwriting blends styles and crosses genres.

Nick Jester is a singer songwriter from Lincoln, Nebraska who has made a home for himself in Chicago. His well-crafted songs feature catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics. Jester is an engaging performer who prides himself on his above average stage banter. He has been seen performing with world class musicians and dancing robots, both of which are pretty impressive. In 2015 his debut LP, Another Tonight, was released with Nick Jester and the Outliers. March of 2017 saw the release of his EP, Chinese Dream.
