GROUND UP SHOWCASE: Alex Krueger, Matt Super, Signe Engstrand - 7PM | $8

  • Uncommon Ground (lakeview) 3800 N Clark St Chicago United States (map)

Signe identifies first and foremost as a storyteller. Music to her is the landscape and setting for the stories she finds in everyday life. Songwriters like Sara Bareilles, Billy Joel and Maggie Rogers have influenced the way she crafts her music. As with all of these artists, the lyric writing is as important to her as the melody and harmony. Signe began playing piano at the age of 6 and discovered singing not long after. After growing up with classical training she decided to follow her true passion and switched to Pop/Rock in college. Her sound is a blend of intimate pop melodies with simple accompaniments to louder danceable rock arrangements. In 2016 she wrote and recorded with the band Lipstick Frisbee and in 2018 graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Contemporary, Urban and Popular music. She is currently in the recording process for her debut EP to be released this spring. Stay tuned.

Matt Super likes to play his guitar and sing some songs and hopes you like it too. He's trying to fail a little less each time.

Alex Krueger makes a living as an Axe Throwing Coach with Backyard Axe Throwing League. Though you think it'd be easy to release your frustration by chucking a few axes at a wall, Alex always turned to his guitar when times became stressful. He's played guitar for 10 years and has been singing since he was little. Even though he's been trained and worked as a classical singer in Chicago, solo guitar has been his go-to, and he's glad to be able to share it.
