UNCOMMON GROUND LISTENING ROOMS
GET TO KNOW US! THEN BOOK WITH US.
Uncommon Ground is a sustainable restaurant, urban farm, coffee house, brewery and home to two Listening Room, one in Lakeview and one in Edgewater. Our Listening Rooms support the emerging and established performers who are rooted in or are visiting Chicago! We are able to provide performers our intimate sit down listening rooms complete with full light and sound engineering so long as you bring out your audience to eat, drink and listen with us during your show! Live music, comedy, open mics, live lit, screenings, variety shows, and intimate theater thrive in our spaces. The Listening Rooms serve beer from Greenstar Brewery, the first all organic brewery in IL, and food from the first 4-star restaurant with a certified organic rooftop farm in the U.S (menu). All ages are welcome.
Performing acts receive 100% of cover sales after $75 is paid to the house for sound engineer/production fees. Earning capacity is in your hands! Performers fill out a W-9 tax form upon arrival, then checks are issued immediately after the show.
HOSPITALITY: Artists keep 100% of their merchandise sales, and each performer receives 50% off dinner and 1 free Greenstar Brewery drink ticket
LAKEVIEW LISTENING ROOM: 3800 N Clark. CAPACITY 50
EDGEWATER LISTENING ROOM: 1401 W DEVON AVE. CAPACITY 55
Our intimate listening rooms are somewhere between a concert venue and a coffee shop. Loud percussion, ripping electric guitars or booming brass bands blow our audiences away a little too much. Whatever the genre, please prepare to play at a level that is appropriate for our intimate listening room. Think Tiny Desk!
We have no instrument backline.
We ask that you tell your fans to make table reservations in the listening room. This is our version of advance ticket sales. The show’s cover charge is added to listener’s food and beverage bill. The reservation link will be provided to you.
If you wish to do advanced ticket sales through Brown Paper Tickets, please follow up directly with the Music Curator after filling out the form.
We include all shows on our Music Calendar and will help with promotions on social media, but we expect you to work on your own promotions wherever possible in order to make for a successful show. We hang our bi-weekly posters within the restaurant and at some neighboring businesses, but we also recommend printing and hanging your own flyers or handbills to give to your friends and fans, and hang around town (if local). Once your show is booked, feel free to mail or drop off six 11" x 17" physical posters to the location you’re playing.
Finally, we strongly urge that you don’t book another local show within two weeks before or after your show here, as it reduces the number of fans you can draw to your show.
We can provide the following photography coverage packages for your show by Tim Jarosz (samples below). Please request his availability in the form!
Half set (1 hour) 6-10 edited high resolution images ready next day - $50
Full set (2 hours) 10-20 edited high resolution images ready next day- $100
We get lots of requests, but we’re excited to learn more about you! Please know that all acts are carefully considered, and we’ll be in touch when there’s a fitting date or bill for your act.
