Riley Martin Jazz Quartet

Riley Martin is a jazz guitarist originally from San Jose, California, now based in Chicago. His playing blends the swing and soul of the jazz tradition with a contemporary edge, shaped by early influences ranging from classical and bossa nova to funk, hip-hop, and Motown. Though he first picked up the guitar through rock and fusion, his musical path shifted dramatically after joining his high school jazz band—an experience that introduced him to the transformative power of improvisation.

After earning his degree from Roosevelt University, where he studied under jazz guitar great Henry Johnson, Riley has continued to explore the lineage of players like Wes Montgomery and George Benson while carving out his own distinct voice. His mission as a musician extends beyond performance—he is deeply committed to passing on this living tradition through education, mentorship, and a profound respect for jazz’s cultural roots.

Iris And The Shade with Suzy Lee

Iris And The Shade met at a random bar, on a random late night, on a random whim, after two decades of circling each other unknowingly in their hometown Dana Point. Their meeting began with a trip (Chase aka “The Shade” tripped Iris with his foot to meet her) and that began a love story full of grace and grit and lots and lots of music. Their porch singing and mutual musings pushed them to create the indie folk-rock duo called Iris And The Shade. They sound like the ebb and flow of the ocean; sweet and calm or rough and storming.

Their mission is to connect with others through the music, while positively contributing to the causes they care about. Iris and the Shade are passionate about the welfare of animals, de-crowding and increased funding of dog shelters, and the cleaning of their local beaches and oceans.

Also joining is Suzy Lee (trio)

Remi Goode is a trained classical guitarist and choral singer turned alternative folk singer-songwriter. She writes with blunt honesty and introspection, searching for the root of the dynamics within a relationship or a deeper understanding of her own self-conception.

Madeleine Kelson is a Nashville based Americana artist. She pulls from a rich tradition of Folk, Country, and Americana, challenging its boundaries as a queer artist to represent the modern world. Madeleine spent her high school years in Chicago band, The Kelson Twins, playing venues including House of Blues and Thalia Hall, and landing a top Daytrotter Session with Paste Magazine. She later moved to Music City to pursue a solo career. Inspired by artists like Patty Griffin, Jason Isbell, andBrandi Carlile, her dynamic and down-to-earth storytelling and rich vocals are part of why NPR named her one 10 Nashville artists on the rise.

Haunted Like Human

Mythology evokes images of gods, titans, demons, and beasts of every kind. Yet, it’s the spark of humanity that keeps us telling and retelling myths. It’s these stories of seduction, inheritance, and hubris that Nashville-based folk duo Haunted Like Human rekindle in the 14 songs on their third album American Mythology. Since the release of 2021’s Tall Tales & Fables, Dale Chapman and Cody Clark have been refining their sound rather than departing from it. The result is a shapely set of songs that borrow from universal lore in order to reveal intimate truths.Led by Chapman’s warmly capacious voice and Clark’s classical techniques on a steel-string guitar, the pair prove they write songs like novelists write their books, using careful detail and well-shaped characters to tell even the heaviest of stories. Whatever the topic, the songs shine with restrained arrangements and entwined harmonies. This duo tells stories so well that there’s no need to cloak them with heavy-handed production or vocal processing. Instead, Haunted Like Human lets the humanity shine through.

Ben Reneer

Ben Reneer

Ben Reneer is a self-produced indie-folk singer/songwriter who loves almond butter very much. He grew up in Utah, and currently resides in Phoenix, AZ. His childhood influences include Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, and Pete Yorn. More recently he’s been drawn to the delicate songwriting of Donovan Woods and Gregory Alan Isakov. Ben’s mom forced him to take piano lessons as a kid – which Ben violently resisted. But her persistence paid off – he may have won some battles, but she won the war. Ben worked as an industrial designer after attending college, but now applies his technical and creative mindset to his songwriting and music production. A few T.V. shows have taken note of Ben’s melancholy folk sound. His songs “27 Years”, “Swallow”, and “Off My Mind” have accompanied significant moments in Showtime’s Shameless and ABC’s The Good Doctor. On October 25th, 2024 Ben released a 12-track album -- "The Cosmos", and Ben has much more music in the pipeline.

When you listen to Chris Rawlins it comes as no surprise that he was first a poet before he was a songwriter. The lyrics draw you right into his world of Midwestern landscapes, childhood homes, cities full of shadows, past lovers and dreamlike memories around every turn. His voice is quiet and humble, yet confident, and will ease all the tension around you— and could ease you to sleep if you weren’t so captivated at every word.

Dallas-born, Chicago-based Marian Runk’s life-long fascination with storytelling evolved from book arts and comics to songwriting and performing. Her second album, Two Wires and a Spark, is filled with powerful imagery shaped by this diverse artistic background. Her songs have been described as "honestly and humorously reflecting the ambiguities of being a fallible human."

Spells and Curses, J. Lincoln, Midwest Palm Tree

Spells and Curses, J. Lincoln, Midwest Palm Tree

After losing a parent, ending a relationship and leaving unhealthy friend circles all within a few months, theRave was forced to start a new chapter in life by exercising unfamiliar feelings of love and loss: so he turned to music and formed Spells and Curses.

But it was the loss of a family member to suicide that gave his work a focused purpose; to prove that despite our past trauma, surviving and making a better life is the ultimate revenge. Spells and Curses attempt this by creating music to explore one's "inner space", with songs that act as a “spell” to enhance the moment, or a “curse” to damn it.

Since then, the mission has been to inspire those looking to free themselves from toxic and traumatic environments. To empower people whose attempts at improving their lives are met with resistance or negativity. To show anyone that the venom of opposition can be turned into the basis of courage. This focus on love, hate, vitriol, and freedom has been the tenet of Spells and Curses’ entire output; as seen through self-produced albums (such as SUADADE and Sinful Things), to currently releasing a new song and music video every 2 months.

Joe Armstrong

A keen listener and conversationalist, Joe Armstrong can be laugh-out-loud funny, but he’s

dead serious about the music and social commentary reflected in his 2024 release Burn It

Down. In the spirit of Neil Young, Armstrong is equally comfortable entertaining a loud,

sweaty rock and roll audience with fist-raising anthems as he is laying bare the beautiful

vulnerability of the human experience with hushed acoustic guitars, catchy melodies, and

clever songcraft. Since relocating from his native Chicago to Los Angeles he has released

three albums, toured the world as a technician with a top-tier Emo band, and launched a

podcast showcasing fellow independent musicians called Independent’s Day, on which

he has hosted wide-ranging conversations with artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Sean Watkins

of Nickel Creek, Freedy Johnston, Dustbowl Revival, Steve Dawson of Dolly Varden,

Calexico co-founder John Convertino, Robbie Fulks, Hem, Mark Spencer of Son Volt,

Elizabeth Goodfellow of Iron and Wine, and many others. He has also worked the better

part of a decade in political media, giving him an inside perspective on our turbulent and

divisive times. Burn It Down is a logical and passionate evolution of those experiences that

leans on valuing uncomfortable reality over convenient illusions. “There is a dearth of

empathy in our society,” says Armstrong, “and Burn It Down serves as a call-to-arms in a

raging fight to stand up and make our voices heard and advocate for decency and

democracy," as well as a warning to those who would prefer to forsake our humanity and

the progress we've made towards a more equitable future.
