Jonathan Hannau is a Chicago-based composer and pianist whose original work embraces the surreal, minimal, and abstract possibilities of music. Heartfelt and honest, he creates ambient environments, long expressive melodies, and intricate rhythms supported by live looping and improvisation. For this particular set he will be joined by his longtime collaborator and friend Richard Brasseale on saxophone.
Fueled by mutual admiration and creative desperation, Momo (hornist) and Alvin (jazz guitarist) first engaged the challenges of cross-genre collaboration in 2020. The Chicago-based duo has released several records of co-composed originals and arrangements prioritizing loyalty to personal taste and individuality over genre. Their pieces are constructed as sequences of shapes, events, and dialogues, built on structured spontaneity.
