Zach Sorkin is a Chicago-based jazz drummer and composer who brings a broad musical background and sense of musicality to the drum set. With a background in piano and other instruments, and deep roots in numerous musical styles, Sorkin’s music draws on a wide range of influences and approaches. He has shared the stage with world-renowned musicians such as Jaleel Shaw, Warren Wolf, Marquis Hill, Steve Davis, and Tia Fuller. Sorkin was recently selected to participate in the prestigious Ravinia Steans Institute’s Program for Jazz, and is currently in his third year at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he is studying drum set performance and jazz composition. His quintet will play a set of his original compositions mixed with standard jazz repertoire and other contemporary jazz selections.
